Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Murājaʿa community.

Murājaʿa exists to help people learn Arabic in a respectful, welcoming and faith-conscious environment. These Community Guidelines explain the standards we expect from everyone using the Service, especially when interacting with other learners through community features such as Practice Video Calls.

By using Murājaʿa, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines in addition to our Terms of Service.

Failure to follow these Guidelines may result in warnings, suspension or permanent removal from Murājaʿa.

1. Our Community Values

We ask every learner to help create a community that is:

• Respectful
• Honest
• Supportive
• Safe
• Focused on learning
• Welcoming to everyone

Treat others with kindness, patience and good manners.

2. Keep Murājaʿa Focused on Learning

Murājaʿa is an educational platform.

Community features exist to help learners improve their Arabic.

Please keep conversations focused on:

• Speaking Arabic
• Vocabulary
• Grammar
• Reading
• Listening
• Pronunciation
• Encouraging one another

3. Respect Other Users

Always treat other learners with respect.

You must not:

• insult or abuse others;
• harass or bully another user;
• threaten or intimidate anyone;
• use hateful or discriminatory language;
• repeatedly contact someone who does not wish to continue a conversation.

Everyone deserves to feel safe while using Murājaʿa.

4. Practice Video Calls

Practice Video Calls are provided solely to help learners practise spoken Arabic.

They are not intended for:

• dating;
• matchmaking;
• social networking;
• business promotion;
• advertising;
• political campaigning;
• activities unrelated to language learning.

Please use the feature only for educational purposes.

5. Adult-Only Feature

Practice Video Calls are available only to users who are at least 18 years old.

Your date of birth is used to determine eligibility.

Providing an incorrect date of birth in order to gain access to Practice Video Calls is a breach of our Terms of Service and may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account.

6. Gender-Specific Matching

Murājaʿa offers optional gender-specific Practice Video Call matching to support users who prefer to learn in gender-specific environments, including for religious or personal reasons.

Users are expected to provide accurate account information.

If you intentionally provide incorrect gender information to bypass these safeguards or gain access to restricted matching groups, your account may be suspended or permanently terminated.

7. Protect Your Privacy

For your own safety, please do not share personal information during conversations.

Do not ask another user for:

• phone numbers;
• email addresses;
• social media accounts;
• messaging app usernames;
• home address;
• workplace or school;
• financial information;
• passwords or verification codes.

Likewise, avoid sharing your own personal contact details with other users.

8. No Romantic or Inappropriate Behaviour

Murājaʿa is not a dating platform.

You must not:

• flirt with other users;
• make romantic or sexual advances;
• request dates or relationships;
• send sexually suggestive messages;
• pressure another user into continuing a conversation;
• ask users to communicate privately outside Murājaʿa.

Behaviour that makes another user uncomfortable may result in suspension, even if no explicit rule has been broken.

9. No Recording

Respect the privacy of every learner.

You must not:

• record Practice Video Calls;
• take screenshots without consent;
• livestream conversations;
• publish another user's image, voice or personal information;
• use recordings for any purpose without the permission of everyone involved.

Unauthorised recording may result in immediate suspension or permanent removal from the Service.

10. Appropriate Conduct

When participating in Murājaʿa, you agree not to:

• impersonate another person;
• create fake accounts;
• provide false account information;
• attempt to bypass platform safeguards;
• upload illegal or harmful content;
• distribute spam;
• promote scams or fraudulent activity;
• disrupt the learning experience of others.

11. Respect Copyright

Only upload learning materials that you have the legal right to use.

Do not upload copyrighted material unless you have permission or another lawful basis for doing so.

You remain responsible for all content that you upload.

12. Reporting Users

If you encounter behaviour that violates these Guidelines, please report it to us.

Reports help us maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.

Where appropriate, we may investigate reports and take action.

13. Enforcement

Depending on the seriousness of the issue, we may:

• issue a warning;
• temporarily suspend your account;
• remove access to community features;
• permanently terminate your account.

Serious or repeated breaches may result in immediate account termination without prior warning.

14. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time.

The latest version will always be available within Murājaʿa.

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Guidelines.
